On Thursday, 22 November 2015 took place a conference "“From waste to energy”, gathering experts within the field of energy and waste policy. Five issues were raised and discussed.
"Municipal solid waste may have …the opportunity to become a precious source and fuel for the urban sustainable energy mix of tomorrow."
The conference was oppened by Prof. Harry Post from Faculté Libre de droit, Univ. Cath. de Lille, who focused on Waste Management and the Environment. He was followed by Prof. Lieve Helsen from KU Leuven University - Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The practitioners were invited as well. Mr. Matthias Wieseler, Plant Technology Team Leader of the the Amsterdam Municipal Energy Company (AEB), Mr. Kim Talus, Professor of Energy Law at the University of Helsinki came up with the legal aspects of EU Waste and Energy policy. A different perspective on this topic was introduced by Dr Thomas de Romph from KU Leuven University. He put emphasis on European Enviromental Law.
